I needed to write a blog and film a vlog. I love getting those tangled up. The underlying knowing is they are both blogs but not both vlogs. Vlogging is important for advertising purposes. It also serves the idea that if I’m asking others to trust me with their work and/or want to film with others, I have to practice with myself first. That's sentimental and all, but I have to blog. Here's what I’ve come to: I have to speak up more. I have important things to say. My voice matters. It makes sense because this is also my line of work. Giving others a voice and a visual for their creative thoughts. If I’m going to help them get there I have to complete the circle by curating the process.
Blog
I have this rule of thumb: if I hear “_________” twice from two completely separate situations, then I find such truths to be more true. I’ll give the ‘fill in the blank’ thoughts the dog's ear perk stance. For instance, this guy told me to write a blog. I thought about it for two and a half seconds. Then, close to a year later, someone else was talking about it in a book I was reading. I didn't even get far in that book, but because I read to that one point and loved it. I put the book down, because I got what I came for. Now, having heard a direct call to action by two completely different sources, okay, fine, let's give this more thought. In school, I loved to write about topics and creative writing class. I have never been great with grammar. My sister Gwen gifted me a diary when I was around 11. Hands down, one of the best gifts. Only comes close to the Betty Boop blanket I’m currently wearing for comfort. I took to the diary and wrote in a diary all through middle and high school, which was monumental for my mental development. Now that I’m in my thirties and have traveled and studied on top of countless raw life experiences, I have something to say. I’m more than ever okay with getting it wrong, and because of that, I’m getting it right more than I expected. This is the perfect time to start.
